BOWLING.
THE NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT. The usual New Year rink tournament promoted by the three town clubs will be held on January 1 and :). The entrance will be 10a per rink, and the nett proceeds will be devoted to the Taranaki Bowlers' Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Provided sufficient entries are received the entrants will be. divided into sections, the winners of sections playing off. The tournament is not to be confined to the three town clubs, but is open to all clubs affiliated to the Taranaki Centre. Entries close with the secretary, Mr: C. N. Firth, on Wednesday evening, 22nd inst,., at 0 o'clock. No'entry will be accepted unless accompanied by fee. For the Taranaki Tournament, which takes place later, there is every prospect of a most successful and interesting meeting. The banner match between New Plymouth and West End takes place tliis afternoon on the West End Green, and should prove a keen contest. At Waitara to-day Fitzroy plays the local club a four rinks match. On the New Plymouth Green this afternoon two Fitzroy rinks will try conclusions with the town bowlers.
