Mr. F. T. Glasgow replaces Mr. L. H. Whittle as manager of the Ohura branch of the Bank of New Zealand.

Corporal "Jim" Simpson, formerly of the Bank of New South Wales, New Plymouth, and now attached to the Seventeenth Australian Infantry, is in hospital at Bristol suffering from dysentery. Mr. J. (i. Hannah, second clerk in the PuWic Works Department, Stratford, has received notice of trausfer to Nelson as chief clerk. Mr. Hannah leaves to take up his new duties at an early date.

A letter received on Tuesday from Private E. C, Stanley, son of Mr. W. Stanley, of Egmont Road, states that he is convalescing in hospital at Sheffield. A field service card received from Private P. P. Stanley, another son, says "All's well." The friends of Mr. W. P. O'Connor, lately in business in Hawera, will, says the Star, regret to learn of the death of liia wife at Wellington on December 1. Mrs. CCennor took 1 -an active part in the Ladies' Swimming Club in this town.

Mr. James Mackenzie, late Under-Sec-retary for Lands, at Wellington yesterday, received a presentation of plate and office furniture from the officers of the Department as a memento of his long connection therewith. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey made the presentation.— Press Association.

The Hawera, Star records the death of Mrs. Wills, wife of Mr. J. D. Wills, of Lake Road, Hawera. Some months ago she was stricken with a painful malady, and though the best expert advice was sought, all the dscters agreed that her ease was hopeless. She lingered until Tuesday morning, when she passed quietly away. She is survived by her husband and family of ten children. Mr. Erie Wills and Harold Wills, of the Star office, are two of the sons, while Lawrle is with the Sixth Reinforcements,
