SHANGHAI MUTINY.
REBELS OVERPOWERED. By Cable—Fresa Association—Copyright. Received Dec. 7, 7.50 p.m. Shanghai, Dec. 8. The crew of the crimer Cliaoso, which was lyinp in the river, mutinied and on a signal from the shore the rebels overpowered the officers and commenced shelling the arsenal. Two other Chinese cruisers that were anchored in the vicinity refrained from attacking, for fear of damaging the European settlement. Armed rebels attacked the arsenal, but dispersed when the arsenal replied that the authorities would throw the ?.rseiial guns on and promptly sink the Oiiswso. Several shells had fallen in the foreign settlement. Peking, Later. Official.—The Chaoso was recaptured and peace restored.
SHANGHAI TROUBLE OVER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, Dec. 0. Renter's Peking correspondent says the Government announces that a telegram from General Yung, at Shanghai, states that the Chaoso has been recaptured, the land movement against the arsenal repulsed, and peace restored.
