UNWISE SOCIALISTS. SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT. Geneva, Dec. 6. Three leading German Socialists— Waslscher, Poetsch, and Thetmeyer—have been sentenced to terms of imprisonment for inciting the public by declaring that the war ought to be stopped before more valuable lives were sacrificed. Another, Cans, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment for declaring that German militarism caused the war, and that he longed for the victory of the Allies.
NORWAY AND SWEDEN. NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS. Stockholm, Dec. 6. M. Whelenberg, Minister for Foreign Affairs, has left for Christiana. It is assumed that his visit is connected with the political co-operation which is the outcome of the three, kings meeting at Maemoe. M. Waelenberg enjoys the confidence of Norway and Denmark. Count Reventlow regards the mission with misgivings. A TALE FROM GERMANY. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, Dec. 6. A German wireless message says that possibly Lord Kitchener's Territorials have sufficient equipment from Japan and America, but they are not firstrate soldiers. Of the new four million army it is considered that at the utmost one-fourth will be obtainable. The Central Powers and Turkey will lose no time. Their reserves will overpower their enemies. Also quality, and not quantity, will be the deciding factor for victory.
