.m. _ IMMIGRANTS FROM THE OLD LAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. There was some excitement on the water front at I) o'clock this morning when a number of wounded men back from Gallipot i assembled to express disapproval of men who might be eligible for military .-en-ice in England emigrating to New Zealand. The steamer Remnera ■ berthed an hour earlier than they had expected and. by the time the demonstrators had gathered in any force, the bulk of tire passengers had gone ashore and the passengers were intermingled. Sonic immigrants were subjected to uncomplimentary remarks. Among the first-.lass passengers it was asserted there were twenty to thirty men of military a,Te. None of these were assisted immigrants. All the men spoken to by pressmen denied having left England for other reasons than the economic conditions prevailing there.
