ITALY.
POLICY APPROVED. MUST FIGHT FOR HONOR. Rome, Doe, fl. Tlic Chamber debated Baron Sonnino's statement. Signor Sainrnh-n, replying to the chief points raised, said lie rejoiced that the discussions had lieen sober and riignilied and worthy of the important issues involved. He agreed with those \vli« upheld Parliamentary institutions, hut the reassembling of the Chamber at the. present moment must not be considered a victory ag'ainst dangers and imaginary enemies. Baron Sonnino's, statement on the international situation was sufficiently clear. It would be contrary to the country's interest to give further details of the military, political, and diplomatic steps taken. He would not hesitate in ease of need to follow England's pction and suppress the indiscreet press. ,Tlie Government was fully aware of the gravity of the international situation. An answering effort and unity wen; necessary to safeguard it. His confidence in final victory was unshaken, always provided no energy, material or moral, was lacking to supply the most active assistance which was necessary to achieve it. The turn of events, advantageous or the reverse, had convinced the Government all the more of the necessity and the justice of the war, without which Italy would have remained with her interest, and, worse still, her national dignity and honor, immediately impaired. All classes of Italians were much more firmly convinced of the necessity and justice of the war than they were last May. The Chamber, by 40i5 votes to 4S, approved the policy'of the Government. WELDING THE BOND. KITCHENER'S MESSAGE TO ITALY. Received Dec. G, 5.5 p.m. London, Dee. 0. Lord Kitchener sent the following message: "A soldier's greetings to the Italian army.
