PATEA LICENSING COMMITTEE.
QUARTERLY SETTING. The quarterly sitting of ne Licensing Committee was held yesterday, when there were present—Messrs G. '\V. Kenrick, S.M. (chairman), E. Dixon, E. A. Pacey, and J. P. Dugdale. Transfers were granted as follows: T. H. y. Mills (Manutahi Hotel) to T. Harvie; W. T.. Larson (Central Hotel, Patca) to A. Davies. The Committee recommended that the Government be urged to legislate in the direction of preventing soldiers in uniform being treated to drink. Mr. E. Dixon conveyed to the Chair.man the sympathy of the Committee in that lie (Mr. Kcnrick) had found it necessary, for reasons of health, to take a long rest. The Committee hoped that the rest would be the means of adding many years to Mr. Kenrick'a usefulness in this district. Mr. Kenrick thanked the Committeefor its kindly expressions, and said he hoped to be able to return to Hawera to resume his seat upon the Committee, with whom he had got on very well indeed, all the members being reasonable men.—Star.
