The Assembly, dealing with the Hotel Adjustments Bill, lixed the penalty for a second offence of sly grog-selling at a year's imprisonment without the option of a fine. An amondment prohibiting the supplying of liquor to minors was adopted, A proposal to post-war the referendum on the basis of 9.30 closing and compensation to licensees was rejected. The Legislative Council rejected the Bill recently passed by the Assembly providing for adult suffrage for the Council elections. i . A STRUCK ENDED. Melbourne, Dec. 4. The storeman and packers' strike has ended, the men agreeing to an increase of sixpence a day. QUEENSLAND BUTTER. Brisbane, Deo. 4. There will be a further increase in the price of butter to l»Cs for first grade and 146s 8d for second grade from Monday. ANOTHER STATE INDUSTRY. Brisbane, Dec. 4. The Government has definitely decided to embark on hotelkeeping, and negotiations for Several hotels are progressing.
