DOMINION'S PART.
HOLIDAYS BEFORE DUTY. ENLISTERS PREFER THE FORMER. A MATTER FOR CONCERN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. District headquarters at Palmerston North advised to-day that of 75 available men who were warned to go into camp yesterday, only 33 did so, the balance explaining that they preferred to take their Christmas and New Year holidays before entering Trcntham. This development raises grave concern regarding even the existing registrations fol' the Eleventh Reinforcements, and it is evident that public opinion has need to assert itself, if the required number is to be secured by the Mth inst. The. authorities declare that it is quite impossible to give tire troops in camp the Christmas holidays, as otherwise New Zealand cannot fulfil her engagement to keep up the firing line. Therefore they hope for the neeessarj response. ' NEARLY 8000. Wellington, Last Night. The latest returns issued by the Defence authorities summarise the casualties in the Expeditionary Force to Nov. 29th as follows: Officers. Men.
