THE MOVIES.

CENSORSHIP OF FILMS 'PROMISED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. A deputation from the conference convened by the Catholic Federation, and representing forty-five councils and other bodies urging the censorship of cinema films, waited on the Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs. Tne Minister expressed himself in sincere agreement with the proposal and congratulated the federation on the steps it had taken. He said he was prepared to recommend his colleagues next session to bring down the necessary legislation to provide for the establishment of a Board of Censors who would view every film at Wellington, and making it a penal offence to exhibit any film that the censors had banned. The proposal that women should be represented on the board would receive careful consideration. Ho had no doubt from his knowledge of the views of the Government that legislation would be introduced.
