Douglas Hastie quarrelled with his (laughter and fired a revolver at her and missed, but the girl dropped from fright. The father, thinking she was killed, immediately fatally shot himself. VITAL STATISTICS. Sydney, Dec. 1. The State population on June 1 was 1,863,751, an increase of M,fi43 over the previous year. Births during the year were 54,715 and deaths 18,283. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WHEAT CROP. Adelaide, Dec. 1. The Government Statistician anticipates a record wheat yield of 27% million bushels, of which over 22 million bushels will bo available for export
