SHIPPING FOR AUSTRALIA. CANADIAN WHEAT. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright London, Nov. 30. There is good demand in the Mediterranean for wheat for early shipment. The cargoes of steamers expected to sail in January were sold on the Baltic Exchange, 0000 tons at 60s Cd and 5000 tons at 61s. It was reported on the Baltic Exchange that Australia had secured a tonnage of 000,000 tons, of which 250,000 tons were transports and interned enemy steamers. .Shipbrokerg state that to be on a parity with the rest of the world Australia ought to be paying 110s to 120s per ton. Shipowners who are taking Has per ton are very patriotic and mu9t lose hundreds of thousands. Ninety shillings per ton was paid from the River Plate, from which there are two million bushels for shipment. The Press Bureau says the British Government has not requested Canada to commandeer wheat. It has no information on the subject. NEW YORK SPECULATORS AT WORK. New York, Nov. 30. As much as twenty million bushels of wheat have been commandeered by the Canadian Government under contract to Xcw York speculators, who are holding it in the elevators and preventing new grain coming in. Many holders having resold are chagrined at having to fill contracts from other supplies.
