The people and press are amused by Mr. Ford's ship of peace, Oscar IT, The London press is satirising and cartooning it, variously describing him as "Funny Mr. Ford." "The God in the par," "The gentleman who wanted to be the tin-can of the Anglo-French loan." The Evening News refers to Miss Jane Addnins' connection with the movement as "Aunt Jane intervenes," adding that British women do not want American peace talk until the foe is whacked. It is seriously pointed out that the Germans undoubtedly are anxious for peace and desirous of influencing Americans to intervene, but the British Empire will not risk the chance of ultimate victory, and will not offer nor conaider terms of peace till Germany is crushed. The Daily Telegraph's New York correspondent says that Americans regard Mr. Ford's trip as a huge joke, entitling it "The Atlantic Joy Hide. - ' The Wall Street Journal stigmatises as maudlin and befogged the pence advocates who are wanting an unthinkable peace. Germanv is beaten now, hut peace is impossible till she realises nhe is 'beaten fov all time. | Mr. Ford declares he has signed statements by high officials of the Allies and Central Powers declaring their readiness i for peace.
MR. BRYAN JOINS THE PICNIC PARTY. New York, Nov. 29. President Wilson's refusal to be identified with Mr. Ford's peace activities induces speculation as to how the Department may apply the section of the Criminal Code which provides three years' imprisonment where an individual conducts correspondence to defeat national measures. Mr. Bryan has announced that he intends to join the tour. The itinerary of the party is incomplete, but includes Cluistiania, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. WINSOME MRS. SNOWDEN ASSTSTS.
