WAITARA.
NORTH TARANAKI PATRIOTIC LEAGUE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Yesterday. The weekly meeting of the above League was lipid in tbp. Borough Council Chambers last evening. His Worship the Mayor occupied the chair. The Taranaki Provincial War Relief Association wrote asking the League to authorise their delegate to sign rules which had been forwarded, and the chairman, Messrs Buchanan and Were were eleqted to report on the rules to the Ceneral Committee at the next meeting. A letter was received from Mr. W. A. Brown asking that their branch he .known as the Lepperton-Scntry Hill Branch. The Department of Public Health circularised the League suggesting that a nurse would prove of help in forwarding surgical dressings, etc. A deputation from the Waitara Seaside Improvement and Surf Bathing Society waited on the League with the object of acting with the League in making arrangements for their opening day. The sum of £0 Ms (id was handed in by Mr. Andrews for' the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, being proceeds of the Sunflower Minstrels entertainment at Huirangi. It was decided that the amount of money at present in hand to the credit of the Belgian Fund be remitted at an early date. A sub-committee consisting of the chairman, Messrs Hallani, Buchanan, Rennie, Andrew, Ewens, Nosworthy, Johns and Were were elected to report on a scheme for a carnival week, to be held not later than March. Any money required by the ladies for the purpose, of purchasing materials for making holdalls, etc., were to be' taken out of the general funda.
