£250,000 ASSURED. POLLING CLOSES TO-DAY. The final polling in connection with the Auckland Queen Carnival takes place to-day, and the Coronation ceremony will commence on Wednesday. The amount of money which the Carnival had produced up to Friday afternoon was £247,013, leaving only £2!)87 required to '■each the £250,000 aimed at. The sensational feature of Friday's voting was the polling of 873,785 votes, representing nearly £II,OOO, for the Queen of the South, plating her at the head of the next competitor by a c|ear lead of well over half-a-million votes. Most of the groups added considerable numbers of votes to their total, but the only other change was the displacing of Mrs. Russell by Mrs. Wallington for fifth place on the list.
