NEW FREEZING WORKS.
COMMENCING THE BUILDINGS. The work Of preparing the site for tha new freezing works at Smart Road is now practically finished, and a corn* mencemest will soon be made with the erection of the building. The construction will be carried out by*day labor under the supervision of Mr. F. M. Grayling, and tenders are now invited for the supply of gravel and sand for concrete work. .The plans provide for three blocks of buildings, in concrete, brick and wood, and it is proposed tq start each building at the same time, working on all three simultaneously. This marks an important development in the scheme, and the arrival of themachinery from England will be looked for. No further advice has yet been received concerning it, and the disarrangement of the shipping facilities leaves the date of its arrival doubtful.
