THE GAIN AT KRITHIA.
SUCCESSFUL INFANTRY WORK. Received Nov. 19, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 18. The Press Bureau states that the officer commanding in the Mediterranean cabled that the r>2nd Division carried out a successful attack on November 15, for which careful preparations had been in progress for a considerable time. Three mines were exploded in the enemy's trenches at Kritliia Nullah at 3 o'clock in the ami the infantry pushed on immediately. They captured ISO yards of trenches east of the nullah and 120 yards on the west. Ihe captured trenches were immediately consolidated. Bombing parties pushed up to the communication trenches and erected 'barricades, the battleships assisting in the bombardment. The position was consolidated at C o'clock in the evening. Ihe enemy's batteries were very enratie, and the Turkish infantry siiff'eitf'l considerably from machine-g'Uti and rifle (ire. A counter-attack on the night of the IGtli was easily repulsed. The British losses totalled fifty killed and wounded. There were sevent.y Turkish 'bodies in the captured positions and thirty others were killed by the explosion of the mines.
