Major Mackersy, who is on furlough from the Dardanelles is visiting Hawera, and is the guest of Mr. H. W. Lewis. Abe Potash and Mawruss Perlmutter, with their confreres, und Mr. "Johnny" IFarrell, leave this morning for Hawera, where they will show to-night. Hawera people should not miss being entertained by these # gentlemen. Mr. W. S. Glenn, son of Mrs. Glenn, of Hawera, who went to England some months ago to enlist in Kitchener's Army, has been granted a commission in the Royal Field Artillery. He has been stationed in a training camp near London. The Yen. Archdeacon Thomas Fancourt will to-morrow celebrate the jubilee of his ordination as a deacon by Mishop 'Abraham in old .St. Paul's ■Church, Wellington. 'Ho was bom in Worcestershire, ICngland, on January '22, LS'4'o, and was educated for the ministry at St. Augustine's Missionary College. Alter taking his diploma in 1863, he was stationed in India for nine months, but on his health breaking down he decided to come to Xew Zealand. lie arrived here in 186:"), and was ordained deacon priest, this being the tirsf. ordination in new St. Paul's Church. lie lias been Archdeacon of Wellington since ISBS. Private- Ronald Haily, of New Plymouth, who recently died in London after having been wounded on Gallipoli, went through all the important engagements at the Dardanelles up till August l.j, the day on which he was wounded. lie was with the forces which carried out one of the originaj landings at Cape Hollos, and earlv in August lie was through the landing at Snvla Bay. When Private ISaily was wounded he was having tea in one of the relief trenches. He was struck by shrapnel, which shattered Ins thigh and knee. He was afterwards placed on board a hospital ship and conveyed to London.
