H.M.S. AUSTRALIA. HER COURSE. READY FOR ACTION. ADMIRAL PAKENHAM IN COMMAND. Reeeved Nov. 10, 0.25 p.m. London, Nov. 15. In order rthat Australians should know something about the battleship Australia the Admiralty arranged a Bpecial visit. It was then found that the Australia was stripped, ready for action, moored between the Lion and the Tiger. After an inspection of the ship an officer told the story of her cruise. After the experiences at New Guinea, she proceeded to New Caledonia, where she was joined by other Australian ships and two transports, proceeding to Samoa. H.M.S. Psyche preceded the others and reported the harbor empty. The transports entered and occupied the Island. As the Panama Canal was blocked by the Culebra landslide, the vessel "went round Cape Horn, and after leaving the Falklands met and sank the German supply ship Eleanor Woerman. The vessel steamed forty thousand miles without a serious overhaul. It was a strenuous time. Admiral Patey has been appointed to the command of the Leviathan, and Rear-Admiral Pakenham has been givjen command of the Australia, which [has been made flagship of the Second Battle Cruiser Squadron. Admiral Pakenham is eulogistic of the Australians' conduct and efficiency and common expectancy. There is the strongest tie between the officers and men, all of whom are saying that they would not miss what is coming on any account. All are happy and fit and efficient, ready for anything.
