i I THE 'WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee of the Borough ; Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (chairman) and Crs. L. M. Monteath, J. 8. S. Medley, ,T. Hayden, F E. ' Wilson, A. H. Johnstone, W. A Collis, 1 W. F. Short, F. J. Hill, A. E. Sykes, J. T. Mannix, and A. E. Walkina." A letter was received from the New I Zealand Catholic Federation stating it ; was proposed to hold a conference, to i discuss the question of the censorship :. of cinema films, and asking the Council i to send a delegate.—lt was decided to I inform the Federation that the Council , would not at the present time appoint ; a delegate, but if any councillor should ! be in 'Wellington at the time he would i be asked to represent the Council. * The committee decided to agree to the - charge of threepence per cubic yard for ' shingle carted over the Mangorei Dairy 1 Factory's private bridge and road, for a work at the intake and forebay. 3 The borough engineer was authorised '. to arrange for the supply of metal along - the tram route between Paynter's Lane - and the Waiwakaiho 'bridge, at 5s !ld r per cubic yard, delivered on the roadi way. n | The borough engineer was instructed i, to make enquiries whether a scarifier >' I could he hired in New Zealand, or 1 j whether one to fit the Council's engine o ci.'ihl he purchased in New Zealand.
