ON THE SEA.
THE ANCONA. TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHT DROWNED. OFFICIAL AUSTRIAN UK. Amsterdam, Nov. 14. An Austrian communique says that Italy instructed merchantmen either to flee or ram submarines. The Ancona disregarded the warning shot across her bows and steamed oil' at full speed, and only stopped after she had been hit several times. Forty-live minutes were allowed to lower the boats, but several boats were not launched owing to the panic. The crew alone were blameworthy. The submarine was compelled to submerge after fifty minutes owing to a rapidly approaching vessel. Not a shot was fired after the Ancona stopped. It is untrue (hat the submarine lircil on the lifeboats. Rome, Nov. 14. The Messagero says that 2SKI out of 507 on board the Ancona were saved, and one out of ten Americans was saved.

The Government b forwarding to neutrals a strong protest against the sinking of the Ancona, which it is claimed was against all principles of international law and all the feelings of civilisation. ANOTHER ITALIAN LOSS. SUBMARINE ACTIVITY, Rome, Nov. 14. A submarine flying the Austrian flag sank the Italian steamer Bosnia off the Sicilian coast. A boat containing twelve is missing. READY FOR ACTION. POWERFUL ANGLO-FRENOII FLEET AT MALTA. Paris, Nov. 14., A message from Athens, describing the unrest in Greece, mentions that a powerful Anglo-French squadron of cruisers is at Malta under steam. NORWEGIAN STEAMER SUNK. Received Nov. 15, 11.30 p.m. London, Nov. 15. The Norwegian steamer Waoonsta has been sunk. The crew were saved.
