AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETINTi OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr. J. S. Connett presiding over a large attendance. The following were added to the General Committee:—W. J. Honevfiold. A. T Moore. N. W. Hill, G. White, F. Boulton, W Scott, 0. Cook, J. 11. Biglev. J. TI. Street, A. S. Frost, J. H. Frethey, 11. I'urdie, C. W Kuebe, B. Houeyiield, \\. Cole, jun., and D. Penwarden. The chairman reported as to what had been done in connection with the proposal to equip the new show abounds at the Waiwakaiho. .Messrs. Govett and Quilliam, had advised that the society would be acting legally in issuing debentures as was proposed. The chairman referred with satisfaction to the work of Messr. T. Luxton, J. R. Rowlands, Allen, and C. Andrews in securing new members, the former, for instance, having obtained sixty. Mr. Connett also outlined a scheme he had decided upon whereby lie proposed to see that the whole district thoroughly canvassed for members j and for debentures. A discussion arose with reference to the holding of General Committee meetings on Saturdays, and eventually \\ was decided, on the motion of Mr. Grant, seconded by Mr. LongstafT, to hold the general meeting on the second Saturday in each month at 1.30 p.m. Messrs J. S. Connett, F. Watson, C. Fairbrother, C. W, Browne. W. B. Grant, L. A. Nolan, and 0. White were appointed a Finance Committee, and the same gentlemen, with the addition of Messrs IT. C. Sampson. R. Tl. Pigott, A. Lister. T. Luxton J R. Rowlands. D. .1. Hughes, W. Scott. V W. Hill. .1. 11. Hill, and 0. Colson will form the executive committee. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs. Grant and Hall, that the stock show be held on the first Wednesday and Thursday in March next. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Connett, Johnson and Colson were- alppointed to arrange for a supply of green feed for the stock show.
Schedule committees were appointed to revise the schedule of the forthcoming stow.
