INTERNED ALIENS.
TWO INTERESTING CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Two interesting matters came before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., one of the Commissioners appointed under the Aliens Act, at the Magistrate's Court today. Two prisoners ofMvar who had been interned on Somes' Island appealed for release. One states that he arrived in New Zealand when he was two years of age, and that he had been in the Dominion ever since. He was now 41 years of age. Several witnesses gave evidence to the effect that he was regarded as a good British subject.
The other man stated that he was born in Germany, but his father was a British subject. Accordingly, it was claimed that the appellant was not a German .subject, and never had been. He had paid one visit to Germany, and that was when he was on board a ship, when lie was 22 years of ago. Before giving a decision, Mr. Poynton will communicate with his fellow Commissioners. In the meantime, the prisoners are allowed out on parole.
