CONCILIATION COURT.

YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. The Conciliation Council, under the presidency of the Commissioner (Mr. T. Harle Giles) sat yesterday to hear the dispute in connection with the Tnranaki branch of the Auckland Motor-Car and Horse Drivers' Union. The assessors for the employers were Messrs T. 0. Young, W. Macdonald (Stratford), and Edwin May, and for the Union Messrs F. J. Lyons, Geo. Davis, and Chas. Weaver (Auckland).

Application was made by the employers for an adjournment, not only of this dispute, but also of the Bakers', Grocers', and Butchers' Drivers' dispute, on the ground that a conference by the employers of drivers throughout the Dominion was called for the 17th and 19th inst, in Wellington, when it was expected that a line of action would be decided upon that would form the basis of awards for the whole Dominion.

A lengthy discussion took place, and attention was drawn to the very irregular manner in which the citation lists had been drawn up. Large numbers of persons had been cited who were now out of business, and in many eases names were omitted of persons who should have been cited.

Acting on the advice of the Commissioner, the Union agreed to an adjournment of all the disputes in order that the omissions might be rectified, and the disputes placed before the Court in proper form.

The General Driver's dispute is adjourned till February 23, 1910; the Bakers' Drivers' till Friday, February 2a; and the Grocers' Drivers' till Monday, February 2S. The Union withdrew tho Butchers' Drivers' dispute. On the motion of Mr. E. May (for the employers), seconded by Mr. C. Weaver (for the Union), a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Commissioner for the assistance he had rendered in bringing about an arrangement which was satisfactory to both sides.
