THE BOASTFUL KAISER.
"GERMANY CAN NEVER BE DEFEATED." According to information received through diplomatic channels from Vienna, the German Emperor has recently been delivering a series of extremely bombastic speeches. At Lemberg, a few days after the evaluation of that place by the Russians, the. German Emperor (wires the special correspondent of the Standard in Zurich) said: "Our enemi«s in the East, and in the West are being overcome by the might of Germany, aided by the loyalty of her Allies. Victory, complete and overwhelming, is in sight, and then German's will remain supreme in lier glory, the liberator oT Europe, and the guardian of kultur."
Speaking at Cracow, the German Emperor said: "A century and a half ago my illustrious ancestor Frederick the Great faced and fought with heroic success, the remainder of Europe, so that his name has come down to posterity as one of the outstanding figures of all history. What that great scion of the Hohenzolleni family achieved in the eighteenth century is being repeated at the present time. Prussia fought and overcame a world of enemies at that time. Now Germany is fighting and is overcoming a, world-wide conspiracy, extending even to the Fill- East, to blot her out frotn her place in civilisation. Germany can never be defeated, never extinguished. The Almighty has a mission for Germany to achieve, work for Germans to accomplish. Germany will rapidly prove to the world that she can vanquish her foes and restore peace on her own terms.
A third Imperial oration, delivered to a small gathering of privileged persons at Reutlien, Silesia. \va* a< follows: "The war has been waged with all the weapons at our disposal, as a man fights when his life is thretened by treacherous bandits. The many foes who united against us thought that they could bring about our destriution, but they were mistaken. Now they are feeling the weight of Germany's blows. Now they are beginning to realise that Oermanv is strong enough for all of them together. We march to victory." At Konigsberg, East Prussia, the German Emperor spoke in an equally boastful tone: ''Complete victory over all our enemies in all directions is at hand. The present is still gloomy, owing* to the universal mourning into which we have been plunged for our brave ones: but the future is in sight, and it will be n glorious future for Germany and for all Hermans. For that we have to thank the Almighty and our own strong arm and sharp sword." The Petrograd correspondent of the Homing Post wired: 'The news is current here that the Emperor William has telegraphed to his sister, the Queen of Greece, to the effect- that he 'lias paralysed the Russians for at least six months to come, and is on the eve of delivering a coup on his Western front that will make all Europs tremble.'"
