BRITISH AND FOREIGN TRADE. DEALING WITH FOODSTUFFS, Received Nov. 11, 9.40 p.m. London, Nov. 10. An Order-in-Council has been issued prohibiting British ships carrying cargo between foreign ports after December 1, unless licensed. A second Order gives power to requisition ships for the carriage of foodstuffs and other necessaries. This is not expected to necessarily interfere with the established services between foreign ports, and every effort will be made to avoid disturbing pre-existing business arrangements. A committee thoroughly conversant with shipping lias been appointed to issue licenses, and a second expert committee has been appointed, under the presidency of Mr. Wlutelev, M.P., to deal with requisitioning, and also prevent prohibitive freights on foodstuffs.
