TREATMENT OF ALIENS. Sydney, Nov. 11. The City Council lias reaffirmed its decision that enemy subjects in its employ shall not be dismissed unless they are disloyal.
THE AUSTRALIAN ARMY. TO BEACH QUARTER OF Ai MILLION. Brisvanc, Nov. if. Mr. Fisher stated that the number of men already at the front is 100,049, and in training 70,500. The present total commitments are 78,000. Australia and Canada have kept pace. Canada aims at a quarter of a million men, and Australian commitments will reach about the same figure. The Government secured a majority at the close of the no-confidence debate.
A CONFERENCE OF PREMIERS. Received Nov. 11, 11.10 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 11. In the House Mr. Hughes announced that he has decided to accept the Imperial Government's invitation to visit London for an exchange of views. He added that he was informed that similar invitations had been sent to New Zealand and Canada. FURTHER CASUALTIES. Received Nov. 11, 11.10 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 11.
