AUSTRALIA.
ALIENS IN THE CIVIL SERVICE. PREMIER HECKLED. Sydney, Nov. 51, Mr. Tlolman was much heckled on the question of the employment of Germans and Austrians in the Public Service. He stated that forty had been dismissed and some Bixty-iive were still retained. They were mostly elderly persons, of unimpeachable character who had married Australians. There was a total of 65,000 Government employees.
