ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURES. A collection of new feature films will be shown at the Empire to-night. Besides two star dramas, there is a film of special interest, entitled, "With the Allied Fleets at the Dardanelles." The film shows Admiral Guepratte, in command of the Allied fleets, examining the enemy's position; the flagship Jauregueberry; Generals Ainade and Gourandon board the Jauregueberry with Admiral Guepratte, arranging plans for eo-opera-tion of the land and sea forces; the Allied camp at Hudros; Flight-Lieut. Barthetemey de Lezien decorated with the Legion of Honor by Admiral Guepratte, whilst under firo; the forts of Totts now held by the French; scouting for submarines in a steam launch; H.M.S. Goliath (this battleship was sunk shortly after by a torpedo); H.M.S. Canopus firing her heavy guns; the French cruiser Snffren passing the flagship; English signallers are placed 011 the French battleships to ensure messages being correctly transmitted; H.M.S. Agamemnon bombarding n flying battery on the coast of Asia; 133 m.m. guns in action; a transport, struck by a shell, heels over; funeral of a French soldier who was killed by a wounded Turk whom he was trying to help; a convoy of Turkish prisoners. Another film of interest is the latest Australian Gazette. ''Ambrose's Hasty Temper," a Keystone comedy, is among the supporting items. ROYAL PICTURES. The Kalem Company reveals an interesting side of life in the slums of Xew York in the "feature" drama, "The Frame-up," which is the chief attraction ol' the new bill to be presented at the Royal next Saturday The central figures are a girl of the slums and her two rival admirers. The rejected suitor bribes a third man to decoy the accepted lover into a safe-breaking exploit, at the same time warning the police. The trick is temporarily successful, but in the end the schemer is also ensnared. "Out of the Past," a special two-reel feature drama by the Vitagraph Co. is also 011 the new programme. The story concerns a woman whose early associations were unfavorable, but she had, however, managed to keep free from contamination. Years later an episode occurs which brings her back to the evil past. The situations are striking, and are very capably treated by the Vitagraph Company's leading players. The other filniH shown are "The Wily Widow" (comic), "Winter Sports in Italian Alps" (interest), "Rough but Romantic" (comedy), "lie Wouldn't Stay Down" (Keystone comedy, featuring Ford Sterling), and the latest Australian Gazette.
