NORTH TARANAKI PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
(Prom Our Waitara Correspondent.) Tile weekly meeting of the above League was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday evening, his Worship the Mayor presiding. It was decided that the chairman and secretary be appointed delegates to attend a conference of Taranaki Societies at Stratford on November 12th, when the matter of formulating a provincial S( -'heme is to be discussed. A letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs asking that all monies collected for Red Cross Funds be forwarded at once to Wellington. Hie chairman stated that he ) in company with Messrs. Johns, Were, llennie, and Marlow, had attended the meeting at Lepperton, but owing to bad weather the meeting was not fully representative, and it was arranged that a further one he held on the 18th November. It was deemed inadvisable to continue holding socials for the purpose ,of farewelling our boys going into camp, and it was decided that in future the presentations take place on the railway station before entraining. As no reply had been received to the League's communication, it wa9 decided to inform the promoters of Land Shares Art Union that this League would now be unable to do anything in the matter, and that the tickets he returned.
The Minister of Finance is to be written to asking liini to relieve the League of the necessity of stamping receipts for money paid for patriotic purposes.
