ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE EMPIRE THEATRE. Miss Florence Turner is the "star" player in the London Film Company's photo-play adaptation of the wellknown melodrama "Alone in London," which appeared for the first time at the Empire Theatre last evening. The plot is constructed on conventional lines and with some skill is rendered commendably entertaining in motion-picture form. Nan, according to the story, is a country girl with a small inheritance. Biddlecombe, a worthy young miller, is in love with Nan, hut she rejects him in order to marry Redclifl'e, a polished villain, who covets her money. Shortly after their wedding Redclifl'e deserts Nan in London, and for some years she ekes out a miserable existence by selling flowers. The scheming RedclifTe ultimately finds himself firmly in the grip of the law, but he makes a desperate bid for freedom, and is killed by a revolver shot. Honest Biddlecombe remains true to Nan, and he is by her side when the climax arrives. The wonderful monumental relics of Egypt's departed glory are exhibited in "A Trip to Luxor." "Gaumont Graphic," "The Right Girl" (Vita, comedy), and "The Problem" (Flying A drama) are exceptionally pleasing items. A complete change of programme will be screened to-morrow.
