RUSSIA'S TASK.
GERMANS REPULSED. COMMANDER AT KOVNO COURTMARTIALLED. Petrograd, Nov. 5. A communique states: We repulsed the enemy offensive in the Schlock region. The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to cross the Dwina below Dvinsk. We progressed to the outskirts of Illukst. Several German attacks southward of Lake Sventen collapsed with enormous losses. Forest fighting, westward of Chartorysk, resulted in the Germans leaving the ground strewn with corpses.
