INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, Yesterday. BOROUGH COUNCIL. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, when his Worship the Mayor, and the following councillors were present: Messrs F. Spurdle, Fawcett, Parkin, Paterson, and Stewart Huston. A letter was received from the Koman Catholic Federation asking the Council to be represented either direct or by proxy at a conference to be held in Wellington on December Ist., also asking the Council to urge that a censorship over cinema films be established. It was resolved on the motion of Crs. Huston and Paterson, that the Council take no action in either matter. The transfer of the lease of a section from X, B, Fletcher to W. Moles was agreed to, and his Worship the Mayor and Cr. Spurdle were deputed to sign the transfer.

Tlie appointment of a caretaker of the baths wa.s left in the hands of the Baths Committee. Reports from the Works, Library, and Electrical Committees were received and adopted. It was resolved that Mr. Branch's position be kept open ti l his return, when his remuneration will be fixed by the Council of that time. Amounts passed for payment: General account £199 Is lid, loan account iilCj Os 7d.

GENERAL. A rifle match had been ''arranged for this (Thursday) afternoon, but owing to the unsettled state of the weather it had to be abandoned. The Fire Brigade have disposed of the old fire station, by tender to Mr. 11. Peterson for £l4 10s'. Plans and specifications are being drawn up for the erection of an up-to-date building in wood and iron, tenders for the erection of which are to be shortly called for. At the last Council meeting, permission was secured by the brigade to erect their new station on the old site. This permission has been sought for persistently for a long time, but there was a stumbling block, which has been removed by the untiring efforts of his Worship the Mayor.
