A SOLDIER'S SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—i Press Association. Wellington, Oct 30. William Hancock, aged 31 years, a native of Cornwall, England, fatally shot himself in the mouth with a revolver in the public garden this morning. Hancock was a non-commissioned ofliecr in the Eleventh Reinforcements. He was a member of the Main Expeditionary Force, and had returned invalided and rejoined the Eleventh Reinforcements. It is understood he left a letter explaining the reason for his deed.
POSTAL REVENUE. Wellington, Oct. 30. The revenue of the Postal Department for the September quarter shows a net increase of £IS,OOO. Although the new rates were only in force during the last week of the quarter, the postages showed an increase of over £14,000 and telegrams £3OOO. There was a decrease in the number of press telegrams, but an increase in the revenue. There was a marked increase in money order commission and in the number of postal notes issued. The savings bank deposits amounted to £3,011,500, and exceeded the withdrawals by £600,014.
