After to-day's Cabinet sitting it was announced that Mr. Fisher had accepted the High Commissionership, and had resigned his seat as member for Wide Bay and the Prime Ministry-ship. The caucus elected Mr. Hughes leader of the party, and is considering the reconstruction of the Cabinet. MR. FISHER'S APPOINTMENT APPROVED. London, Oct. 20. Newspaper comments are favourable to Mr. Fisher's appointment. Many publish photographs. The Evening News repudiates a silly story of his attending a function at Westminster Abbey in a tweed suit, .intentionally defying the conventions. It also refers to a Stead interview.
