WELLINGTON MATCHES. By Telegraph.—'Pie* Association. Wellington, Last Night. Wellington commenced its championship competitions on Saturday. Old Boys scored 216 (Tucker 34, Thomas 29), against North, with three(wickets down for 95 runs (Hiddleston 42, not out). Tjentham notched '215 (Sandman 56, Hickmott 55, Dempsey 33), against East 104 for no wickets (Gibbs 46, not out, Baker 45, not out). Petone registered 218 (Cate 79, not out, Brice 34), against University, which lost three wickets for 16. Hutt scored 222 (Patten 102, not out, Hughes 40), against Central, 15 for no wickets.
OHRISTCFUECH MATCHES. Chrigtchurch, Oct. 23. In the first grade matches, West Christchurch, with 344 (H. B. Lusk 118, 'P. C. Dwyer 71 not out, W. Po3ter 58, D. Reese 50), beat Sydenham, with 205 and 143 for seven wickets. Riccarton with 205 and 137 for nine wickets, b*fcat St. Albans 204 (Dr. Foster 68, J. S. Barret 51). I/inwood 138 and 55 beat East Christchurch 81 and 108.,
