CALL TO ARMS.

, GOOD RESPONSE IN TARANAKI. A NEW PLYMOUTH RECORD. MEN FOR THE ELEVENTH WANTED. No recruits registered at the New Plymouth Defence Office up to noon on Saturday, but uine men registered with Mr. A. C. Gibson (hon. recruiting officer), being a record for one day at his office. This makes the approximate number of men now enrolled in North Taranaki 139, and allowing that 25 per cent, of this number will be rejected as unfit, roughly a hundred will be ready. The number of men called up from North Taranaki to provide the two drafts for the Ninth Reinforcements was 104, and arguing on this that 100 will be wanted for the Tenth Reinforcements, it will 'be seen that North Taranaki can just meet requirements. The lesson which these figures provide is that men are wanted urgently to ensure that the district will be able to provide its quota for the Eleventh Reinforcements, leaving k in December. The present position of recruiting in North Taranaki is as follows: Next Reinforcements ~.,,.
