REPELLING THE ENEMY. GREAT ARTILLERY DUEL AT DVINSK. TURKS PLEB IN THE CAUCASUS. Received Oct. 17, 3.20 p.m. Petrograd, Oct. 16. A communique states: An artillery duel is developing with great intensity at Dvinsk. We carried the village of Garavantzy, »veat of Lake Obole, and threw the enemy across the Pripet near Nobel. A flank attack west of Tarnopol threw the Germans back towards the Strypa with heavy Josses. We repulsed a strong attack at Haivoronka, the enemy retreating to the trenches in disorder. In the Caucasus thp Turks sustained heavy losses and fled towards flopal. The enemy has been driven out of the Wastan Pass, south of Lake Van. ANOTHER RUSSIAN REPORT. ENEMY LOSES HEAVILY. Received Oct. 18, 1.10 a.m. Petrograd, Oct. 17. A communique states The Germans «t 'Dvinsk made several attacks along the Jlluxt road, and south of Lake iMedum. We captured a farm between Lakes Dtmmen and Drisviatz, after a desperate fight. There are good reports of the enemy's .'ery heavy losses in the recent fighting at Dvinsk. The enemy's desperate attacks on Hivoronka, west of Trambovlia> following a hurricane of artillery fire, were repulsed.
