THE KIDMAN CASE.

EVIDENCE FOR THE DEFENCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, October 14. In the Kidman case the case for the Crown has closed. Counsel for the defence submitted that there was nothing to connect Sergeant Leslie with the charges. The jury and Judge endorsed this. Leslie was discharged without a stain on his character, Kidm&n, in a lengthy statement, declared that he was absolutely innocent of the charges of collusion with any of the defendants. His business was of a speculative character and might be described as gambling on a rise or fall in the market. He made big profits and big losses.
