BOWLING.

HANAIA CLUB. The Manaia Club opened its season on Wednesday, in perfect weather conditions, and the green was in first-cla.ss order (says the Star). There were a good many visitors, Opunake, Pihama, Auroa, and Hawera Clubs being represented; and they were received and entertained in friendly and generous fashion. Mr. Patterson (president) opened the proceedings with words of welcome to the visitors, and having made reference to the "boys at the front," the company at his invitation sang the National Anthem. Miss Patterson then threw the jack, and the usual game, President v. Vice-president, waa played with the following results (President's team being mentioned first): Meuli, Callagh&n, W. Christie, Hollard, 16; McKenzie, Butler, Spence, Cornish, 25. Hunt, McCall, Hair, Dudley, 17; Butler, Kirn, Parkes, Parkinson, 27. Hammond, McLeod, Stevenson, Julian, 13; Deegan Putt, Paterson, Armitage, 32. Corkill, Herbert, Lambie, H. Christie, 17; W. Taylor, Barleyman, Sorenson, A. Robertson, 18. E. MoPhillips, Chisnell, Feaver, McDonald, 18; Glenn, Cook, Henson, Judson, 18. PATEA CLUB. The opening of the Patea green also passed off pleasantly. There were visitors from Hawera and Waverley, who were welcomed by Mr. T. Death and hospitably entertained. The match, President v.
