There is heavy mortality of stock, and the butter output has fallen to a third of last year's. TIPS FOR STEWARDS. Sydney, Oct. 11. Tlic Federated Marine Stewards' and Pantrymen's Association has lodged' an appeal for a compulsory conference with the Steamship Owners' Association in various States. The men claim that the icsults of the New Zealand veto on tipping are not confined to the New Zealand services, but have led to a considerable shrinkage in coastal stewards' earnings, necessitating a readjustment of wages.
