ADDRESS BY OOLONEf< GIBBONS. SOME PARTING WORDS., By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Addressing the .Seventh Reinforcements, Colonel Gibbon said the mounted men were being se:it forward untrained in their particular work to some extent, as it was necessary to send men to Egypt to look aft.'- the horses and release others already there to go to the front. The Sevenths would complete their, training in Egypt. The artillery were well up to the high standard reached at Trentham, although the ammunition column liad not been through the full courts of training and required further instruction before going to the front. As to the infantry he thought the standard attained was abovo the average. Colonel Gibbon emphasised the necessity for discipline, poJnting out that the regiments with the bj->'» discipline suffered the least losse. He warned the troops against indulgence in drink and thereby missing tlie-r ships, and also against the evils of Cairo "You have," he said, " been set c magnificent excm pic in the men who have gone before \ou. Play the game; remember us at home you leave behind. The way in which you' acquit yourselves will be our only reward."
