A GERMAN REPORT. Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Oct. 7. A German communique states that before Dvinsk we penetrated the enemy's positions over a i'roi.l of five kilometres. South of Luke Dryswajaty our tire destroyed a .Russian brigade. The Russians attempted to break through between Lake Bogoinskoje and Smorgoni, but it was a costly failure, thirteen hundred being taken prisoner. Our land batteries in the Bay of Riga seriously damaged a Russian toruedoer.
