PARLIAMENT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the Upper 'House this afternoon, Hon. W. Beehan moved that the Government be requested to take into consideration the advisability of recommending "that members of the Legislative Council who have been ten years and over in the Council, and who have ceased to be members through retirement or resignation, shall he allowed to retain the title of 'Honorable.'" Hon. Sir F. H. D. Bell said that personally he agreed with the suggestion, and the motion was agreed to. Hons. 0. Samuel and McGregor and Sir F.'H. D. Bell were appointed a committee to draw up reasons for insistibg upon the amendments in the Mortgages Extension Bill.
The Kauri Gum Industry Amendment Bill was introduced and read firstly and secondly. Tlie Destitute Persons Amendment Bill was reported from committee with two or three slight amendments, and passed the final stages. The amendments made by the Lower House in the War Funds Act were read, and consideration was deferred. Council rose at 4.20 p.m.
