SUNDAY'S RAINFALL.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Kindly permit me to correct an error occurring in a local published in Monday's News. It is therein stated that "over 2i inches of rain fell in New Plymouth on Sunday morning." As probably many of your leaders would think, or believe, that the record was issued from the Government Weather Station in Pukeknra Park, I beg to state that I know nothing of its origin. The correct records, as registered by the rain gauge in Pukekura Park, ending at 9 a.m. on Monday morning, are as follows:—From I) a.m. on Saturday to f) a.m. on Sunday the correct record is .Ofi'iin. From !i a.m. on Sunday to fl a.m. on Moudav .0-toin. was registered. Total for the 48 hours, 1.020 in. The rainfall for the period stated was more dense that heavy.—l am, etc., W. W. S.
