RAFFLES FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I noticed in your issue of the Ist inst. the result of the drawing at New Plymouth of a raffle for an Overland motor ear, in which it was stated that 9000 tiekets had been sold, and that the funds would benefit to the extent of some £4OO, and in a later issue, that the amount would be £SOO. The gross amount from 9000 tickets would be £1125. Would it not be in the interests of patriotic subscriptions generally if a short statement was published of the results of all such raffles, giving the cost of the article raffled and the expense. It would only be aai ordinary businesslike way of conducting them, and would, I believe, materially assist in the disposal of tickets. —I am, etc., L. E. JACKSON. Opunake, Oct. 3, 1915
