"FUN ON THE BRISTOL." "Fun on the Bristol," or "Widow O'Brien,' will be the next attraction at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday night when George Stephenson's company of comedians inaugurate a season of two nights and one matinee. For over thirty yeare this musical farcecomedy has been staged all over the world, where English is spoken. Its successes are unlimited, and the revival of the popular fun-play is expected to prove acceptable to old and new playgoers alike. The plot is arranged around the endeavours of Widow O'Brien, whose husband left her an enormous fortune, made out of pork, and her two daughters in their attempt to enter society. An Italian Count whose financial position is desperate, makes love to the two ladies until lie finds the widow holds the money. He then brings all his guns to bear, but misses very badly when his position is found out. The daughters also have their love affairs, but these turn out all right. From start to finish the story abounds in all kinds of merriment, songs, dances and sketches are introduced. The box is now open at Collier's for tin; season, which is for two nights and one matinee. "Fun on the Bristol" will open the season a'nd also be played at the matinee oh Thursday. A screaming burlesque entitled "East Lynne up to Date" will be the' attraction for Thursday night. EMPIRE PICTURES. A Keystone comedy, entitled "Ambrose's Sour Grapes," is one of the feature films on the new programme at the Empire Theatre, where there were crowded sessions on Saturday. The comedy has a real plot, the laughter being raised in consequence of twin sisters being so much alike that their own lovers could scarcely distinguish the one from the other. Most of the Keystone Company's joy-makers are in the cast, and the extraordinary situations which arise are made the most of. The interest is sustained fr«in start to finish. Another good comedy is the Vita-graph Company's production under the name of "Eats!'' In this Billy Quirk and Lee Boggs contrive to amuse the onlookers by their attempts to obtain high-class dinners without paying for them. The Lubin Company is represented on the programme by a 2000 ft. drama of modem society life, "The Rainy Day," which is capably acted by the star artists of the company. It tolls how a young wife economises to help her husband, who repays her with neglect. Eventually the loving wife triumphi over her rival and regains her husband's affection. The Pathe Gazette contains several interesting views of the war. "A Study in Flowers" (interest) and "The Stenographer" (Edison drama) were also shown. ROYAL PICTURES For Saturday next an attractive programme has been selected. The star item is "11.30 p.m.," a story teeming with interest and mystery. Other films are "The New Boarder" and "Their Social Splash" (two screaming comedies). "The Great War" (No 4 of a splendid series), "When the Range Called" (Lubin drama), "The Leopard's Lair" (Selig animal drama) and the latest Topical Budget.
