BRIDGE.
Last Wednesday a bridge party, ar- j ranged by the Mayoress, Mrs. J. E. : Wilson, was held in the Kia Ora tearooms, kindly lent by Mrs. Kirk'by, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. There were thirteen tables, nine of auction and four of bridge, and the prizes were won by Mesdames Harvey and Heard and Miss H. Rawson. Quite i a brisk business was done by the sale | of dainty little bags, book covers, etc., | made by Mesdames F, Messenger and •Doughty from the leather left over froi)j | the cutting out of the waistcoats for , the men at the front. Amongst those j present were:—Mesdames J. E. Wilson, j McQuade, Addenbrooke, H. Stocker, j Medley, Grant, Hill, Collins, K, George, Flower, K. Webster, Lysons, S. Rennell, j Foote, S. Blundell, j Hirst, Elliott, Baker, Mills, Quilliam, j Ivebbell, and Misses Rennell, Brewster, Blundell, F. Bedford, Wood, Kirkby, Dempsey, E. Bayley, Crawford, Marshall, 1 K. Haberton, H. Rawson, Testar, Read, Hodges, Douglas and Rawsou.
