NOTES BY "MOTUROA." Wanganui, Last Night. The weather cleared up beautifully for the concluding day, and the course was in good order. Winners' were rattier easier to pick, though Bonny Helen and Master Achilles returned good dividends. Taranaki-owned horses had a good innings, Depredation, Bonny Helen, and Welcome Nugget winning races, while Patronymic, Maniaroa, Sunbird, and Marcaviß gained minor places. Proceedings opened with the Owen Handicap, Nones, who was heavily supported in doubles, being the only withdrawal, Mia Cara and Taringamutu were best backed. Tree Lucerne and Glenroy led to the turn and then retired, beaten. Master Achilles, Taringamutu, and Mia Cara-were then left in front. The former, finishing strongly, won very easily. All started in the Railway Hack Handicap, Coropet, Spain, and Depredation being very evenly supported. Moutoa Queen led along the back from Coropet and Spain. Depredation drew up to the leaders at the distance and won comfortably. •Aratiatia' was a strong favorite in the Brunswick Hurdles, but money poured in on Parawanui at the finish, The race was a procession, Parawanui leading all the way and winning in hollow fashion from St. Gate and Patronymic. Royal Arfns was lame when sent out for his preliminary, and broke down badly in the race, while Aratiatia also went wrong and was pulled up. The Hack Steeples favorites, Tarero and lady Renown, were first home, but they were lucky. Agatha Green led right up to the second fence from home, and then fell, leaving Tarero to win by a hundred yards. Captain Dick was fourth.

The Higgle Handicap wis a complete surprise. Lady Louisa and Mawaroa carried the bulk of the money, Bonny Helen being the rank outsider. Tangihou and Xanthos made the early running, but Maniaroa led into the straight. Bonny Helen finished in her old style and won a fine race by a bare length. Bankeia fell near the finish, and broke a leg and was destroyed.; Her rider (B. Deeley) got off with a shaking. Another Taranaki-owned horse, Welcome Nugget, scored cleverly in the Jloutoa Hack Handicap. Ararat, Hikaliakeke, and Welcome Nugget were favorites. Melodist was first away and led right up to the distance, where Welcome Nugget squeezed up on the rails and won by a length. Bronk Delaval came fast from the rear, and gained third mottey. Hikahakeke was fourth.

.. Sunbird and Peroneal were best backed in the Marangai Handicap, and this pair had the race to themselves to the home turn, where Expect assumed the lead and won nicely from Prince Laddo.

Nothing but Sea Down would go down with punters for the Hack Welter. Bivouac led Flying Camp and Deviation for three furlongs, but Sea Down and Seddel Bahr got to the front at the turn. Sea Down ran on gamely and just scored from "Mr. Highden's" horse, with Mr. Jas. Hawkin's English-bred Marcavis several lengths away third.
