Sydney, Sept, 80, In the High Court, the criminal jurisdiction commenced the hearing of the charge* against Arthur Kidman, Maj6r P. W. (Page, Major A. Q, O'DonnsU, aijd Sergt. E. Leslie for conspiring amoflglt themselves and with others to defraud ' the Commonwealth of large sums by procuring the payment of excessive prices for goods for armed forces. Defendants pleaded not guilty. Counsel for the Crown said that evi-
dence would be supplied to show thft Kidman was unduly favored by certain officers. The Government had to ,pay large eums to Kidman on .the reecm' mendation of Page and O'Donnell, and the only inference to be drawn was that the three officials before the court knpwingly violated their duty. He submitted, figures showing the alleged overcharges.
